Charles trained at Macfarlanes LLP and qualified in 2009, where he continued to work as an associate in the commercial team until joining Stevens & Bolton in February 2016. For much of his career Charles has focused on the technology and sports sectors, advising a number of different clients in these spaces. On the technology side, Charles has historically focused on technology outsourcing (acting on both buy and sell side, for regulated and unregulated clients), and has spent time on secondment to both Hermes Fund Managers and, more recently, Belron International, where he advised in connection with a range of different technology matters and a large-scale GDPR implementation exercise. In the sporting world, Charles has acted for clubs, teams, unions, sponsors, agencies and player management companies, predominantly in motorsport, football, rugby and golf, and leads the Stevens & Bolton LLP sports practice alongside Tom Lingard. Charles also spent a year on secondment to Nike, based in the Netherlands.
