Position

Koen is a partner and a member of the Board of Directors at Tiberghien.

His practice covers all Belgian taxes relevant for corporate, financing and real estate transactions. He focuses amongst others on international tax matters for large Belgian or foreign based multinational corporations with operations in Belgium. Mergers, acquisitions, demergers and other group reconstructions have been major elements of Koen’s corporate work.

Koen has already pleaded successfully before the European Court of Justice. He is praised in the Legal 500 Directory for ‘making you look better in front of board members’ in ‘working alongside the tax department’ and for ‘a hands-on mentality’.

Career

Koen joined the firm in 1999 and is a partner since 2007. 

He has been a regular contributor to a wide variety of tax publications and is a regular speaker at conferences and seminars. In 2004 he was appointed as National Reporter for Belgium at the 2004 Vienna IFA Congress on Double non-taxation.

He lectures European Tax Law at the Tax School of Brussels (University of Brussels/Fiscale Hogeschool).
