Michel Jockey is highly respected by market sources for his long-standing experience in Commercial and Corporate Litigation, French restructuring and insolvency matters. He specializes in the prevention and treatment of companies facing financial difficulties, mainly involving large-scale operations of major French and international groups. His clients also rely on his expertise in the area of external growth, sales operations and strategic corporate litigation.

He is an active member of working groups organized under the auspices of the First President of the Paris Court of Appeals.

Partner at Rambaud Martel (now Orrick), he joined Salans (now Dentons) in 2006 and was among the founding partners of ADVANT Altana since 2009. Practicing law since 1978, Michel graduated from the Institute of Judicial Studies of the Paris Universities.

Member of a working group organized under the auspices of the First President of the Paris Court of Appeals and charged with improving the tools provided to legal practitioners for the evaluation of economic damages. Altana dispose d’un solide savoir-faire en matière contentieuse lui permettant de traiter un éventail de litiges de nature variée. Le portefeuille de clientèle, déjà bien étoffé, s’est encore élargi récemment suite à l’ajout de plusieurs sociétés françaises de premier plan. L’équipe se voit confié des litiges de droit des sociétés et de fusions-acquisitions, dont plusieurs affaires en rapport avec l’épidémie de la Covid-19. La pratique est particulièrement réputée pour sa forte compétence dans le traitement des contentieux bancaires ou relatifs au secteur des assurances. L’équipe gère aussi de nombreux litiges commerciaux aux enjeux élevés, comportant fréquemment des aspects internationaux, et affiche une forte connaissance des procédures de médiation. Enfin, le cabinet est en charge d’affaires en responsabilité des produits de haut niveau, notamment dans le secteur pharmaceutique. Altana dispose d’une équipe solide et expérimentée, capable de traiter une large typologie de dossiers, y compris ceux présentant des aspects internationaux. Le cabinet agit souvent pour des actionnaires, des obligataires, des partenaires commerciaux ou des investisseurs, et occasionnellement pour des débiteurs. L’équipe gère un volant de dossiers de nature variée, en lien notamment avec l’industrie, la presse, le divertissement et les transports. Le cabinet accompagne enfin des investisseurs dans la présentation d’offres de rachat d’actifs ou d’entreprises ; il a notamment conseillé CDQ sur l’opération de rachat du distributeur de presse français Presstalis dans laquelle le gouvernement français a été impliqué.  Michel Jockey et Pierre-Gilles Wogue codirigent la pratique, à laquelle participent  Julien Balensi et Mana Rassouli.

ADVANT Altana is able to deal with a broad range of disputes, acting for French and international companies, and is particularly experienced in disputes in the financial and insurance sectors. The practice notably acts for leading banks and insurers in high-stakes matters concerning loans, insurance and investment products, regularly involving a high number of plaintiffs. The practice also handles a good amount of commercial litigation, product liability and industrial risk cases in addition to assisting clients with M&A and corporate disputes. The firm’s insolvency and restructuring practice regularly handles strategic disputes, with Michel Jockey as the key contact. The practice is co-headed by Valérie Lafarge-Sarkozy and Julien Balensi. Counsel Benjamin Dors is also involved.

ADVANT Altana‘s well-established practice regularly acts for debtors, but is also often retained by leading companies for the management of commercial debts held in various smaller companies and commercial partners. The team has notably advised several leading shopping centers, developers and lessors on protecting rent amounts due by retailers facing debt restructuring situations. In recent work, the practice assisted a major travelling company facing acute difficulties. The varied caseload features matters from other fields, including press, media, hospitality, automobile and education. Michel Jockey and Pierre-Gilles Wogue co-head the practice, with Julien Balensi and Mana Rassouli being two other key contributors.
