Position

Joost has become partner at Van Doorne as per 1 January 2023.

Joost is specialised in insolvency law, commercial contracts, liability issues, litigation and international private law. He also has broad experience in the finance practice. He focuses on advising on and litigating with respect to loan and security documents, insolvency law and various commercial contracts. He also drafts and reviews commercial contracts for national and international clients. In addition, Joost advises on liability issues and any international private law aspects thereof.

 

Career

In 2011 Joost received master degrees in both Corporate Law and Trade and Economical Law from Radboud University in Nijmegen. Joost also studied at the university of Glasgow. In May 2013 he completed the Law Firm School (with cum laude distinction). In 2017 Joost completed the post-graduate INSOLAD/Grotius specialist course on insolvency law (with cum laude distinction). Joost frequently publishes. Joost is also a member of INSOLAD, the Dutch specialist association for insolvency lawyers, and Insol Europe.

Joost Volkers was promoted to partner in January 2023, expanding the firm’s financial, restructuring and insolvency litigation capabilities at senior level. Sjoerd Kamerbeek is a go-to for shareholder and governance disputes, as well as acting in class actions and cases before the Enterprise Chamber. Commercial litigator Lisette Bieleveld is an expert in civil contract and liability litigation, and also possesses specific expertise in cases involving the food and pharmaceutical industries.
