Lisette is head of Van Doorne’s Commercial team. She advises and litigates on behalf of domestic and international companies and organisations with regard to all commercial contracts, such as (international) agency, franchise and distribution contracts, (international) sale/purchase agreements (including general conditions, sourcing and framework agreements), services agreements, co-operation agreements and confidentiality agreements. She has specific expertise in commercial litigation (both before Dutch Courts as well as in (international) arbitration), consumer law, liability law and related matters of an international private law nature.

She also advises and litigates in the areas of e-commerce and IT, including outsourcing, software and hardware sales and supply of software licensing and on failed IT projects.

Lisette specialises in contract and liability law (including food and health safety related issues), civil procedural law, international private law and ICT.


She has been a lecturer for NEVI (Netherlands Association for Procurement Management) for more than 10 years. She is a regular editor for Rechtspraak Contractenrecht (Contract Law Case Law ), a monthly publication of Kluwer. She is a member of the International Distribution Institute and the Association for Distribution, Franchise and Agency Law. She is an arbitrator (IDIArb) under the rules of the Swiss Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

Van Doorne fields a team of ‘high level professionals’ when taking on retail matters, and was able to expand its team with the arrival from De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek of Daan Beenders and his team in October 2022 to head the firm’s litigation practice, assisting the retail team with matters ranging from non-performance to product recalls. On the non-contentious front, the group advises national and international retailers, investors and distributors on real estate, logistics and distribution and e-commerce. Lisette Bieleveld leads the team, handling litigation in the realms of consumer and liability law. Willem van der Ven specialises in contractual matters, assisting with the drafting and negotiating of distribution, franchising and cooperation deals, in addition to taking on related litigation.

The food and beverages team at Van Doorne focuses on the corporate and commercial aspects of food matters, often assisting clients with product recalls, contracts, and liability as well as IP, regulatory and finance-related issues. The team is able to advise on a wide breadth of issues faced by multinational and local food brands, manufacturers and companies, regularly handling cross-border commercial and regulatory food and beverage matters. Lisette Bieleveld leads the food practice and is she is the primary litigator for food-related issues and industry legislation. She also advises clients on commercial contracts, including franchising and distribution and service agreements. Florence Verbeek advises on complex food law issues including recalls, consumer and product liability, as well as being the point of contact with NVWA for the firm. IP-related food matters are handled by Kriek Wille.

Van Doorne‘s sizeable dispute resolution practice, led by litigator Daan Beenders, is a leader for high-profile domestic cases and cross-border disputes. The team handles insurance and professional liability litigation, including post-M&A disputes, and frequently handles shareholder claims and disputes between management and works councils before the Enterprise Chamber of the Amsterdam Court of Appeal. Beenders has a stellar track record in class actions – and has recently been involved in a number of multibillion-euro class action claims – and liability cases. Joost Volkers was promoted to partner in January 2023, expanding the firm’s financial, restructuring and insolvency litigation capabilities at senior level. Sjoerd Kamerbeek is a go-to for shareholder and governance disputes, as well as acting in class actions and cases before the Enterprise Chamber. Commercial litigator Lisette Bieleveld is an expert in civil contract and liability litigation, and also possesses specific expertise in cases involving the food and pharmaceutical industries.
