With Lamya El Mernissi, he advised BMCE Bank of Africa on the development of the world's largest seawater desalination plant. For ONEE, the firm handled the renegotiation of public tenders for energy projects.

At Naciri & Associés Allen & Overy, Hicham Naciri, Yassir Ghorbal and project finance specialist Antoine Haddad act for sponsors, governments, construction companies and lenders. Haddad played a key role in the team's work for IFC and other lenders regarding the financing of Ivato Airport in Madagascar.

Norton Rose Fulbright provides 'high-quality legal advice with a mastery of the multi-jurisdictional legal framework'. Key partner Alain Malek 'always takes time to foster client relationships'. Malek and of counsel Godefroy Le Mintier acted for a client in the financing of a seawater desalination plant.

Rachid Benzakour leads the practice at Benzakour Law Firm and recently advised EBRD on its provision of finance to SDX Energy for gas and hydrocarbons projects. He also acted for a Chinese company in regulatory matters arising from its interest in clean energy company Acwa Power.

At CMS, managing partner Marc Veuillot frequently advises multinational clients on tax law, procurement law and project tenders. He recently assisted Gestamp Palencia with regulatory aspects of a joint venture in the automotive sector.   • Turkey: Special Purpose Acquisition Companies

    Special Purpose Acquisition Companies (" SPAC "), which are incorporated to achieve the purpose of investing and merging with a non-public company, were first introduced in the United States in 1990s and recently increased its popularity globally. Unlike other countries, SPACs entered into Turkish legal system relatively late with the Communiqué on Common Principles Regarding Significant Transactions and Appraisal Right (Communiqué No. II-23.1) of the Capital Markets Board (" CMB "), published in the Official Gazette dated 24.12.2013 numbered 28861(" Appraisal Right Communiqué "). Currently, there is no SPAC listed under Borsa Istanbul (" BIST ") in Turkey. SPACs are very similar to venture capital structure and can be considered as a strong alternative for investors and shareholders in Turkey as well.
