Kettani Law Firm is rightly seen as one of the leading firms for both litigation and arbitration. Azzedine Kettani leads the arbitration practice and is frequently appointed by ICSID as an arbitrator or chair of arbitral tribunals. Rita Kettani takes the lead on litigation.

Yassir Ghorbal, head of litigation at Naciri & Associés Allen & Overy, is one the market's foremost practitioners; and managing partner Hicham Naciri is recommended for high-profile arbitrations. Naciri defended the Kingdom of Morocco in an investment treaty claim brought by Corral Morocco Holdings. The municipality of Casablanca is also a key client.

At Bennani & Associés LLP, dispute resolution is the fastest growing part of the firm. Abdellah Moustaid leads the practice and he acted for UPS in an LCIA arbitration arising from the termination of a service agreement with a local distributor. He also represented Dell in a dispute with IB Maroc concerning a distribution agreement.

Benzakour Law Firm focuses on foreign investment activities in Morocco and handles litigation and arbitration arising from those transactions. Rachid Benzakour is the key partner and he recently handled a litigation matter for tobacco giant Philip Morris. He also provided pre-litigation advice to Lebanese company Averda.

At BFR & Associés, lead litigation partner Yasmina Baddou spent ten years as a government minister and is 'very well respected, very sharp in disputes and has the respect of judges'. She recently acted for EBRD in matters arising from the restructuring of Compagnie Minière de Seksaoua.

Head of litigation Mehdi Kettani and 'very successful' international arbitration lead Saad El Mernissi are the key partners at DLA Piper, which climbs the ranking this year. Kettani represented retail sector landlord Al Amine Investissement Immobilier in debt collection matters. The firm is also on the panel of Société Générale for litigation matters.

At Fraikech Associés, founding partner Abderrahmane Fraikech is a highly respected litigator and has more than 40 years' experience. His clients include Middle Eastern conglomerate Al Ain Group, banking group Al Baraka, global eye care company Alcon and clothing brand Lacoste.

Jeantet is known for 'efficient performance, high skill levels and a strong partnership'. The firm handles commercial litigation, banking and financial disputes, competition and labour law matters, and pre-litigation advice. Key partner Mamoune Kettani and managing partner Philippe Malléa count a global medical and consumer goods company among their clients.

'With 45 years on the market, it is one of the most experienced firms in Morocco', says a source of Kettani Associés. Founding partner Ali Kettani is highly respected for his work in both domestic and international litigation, and he has particular expertise in commercial, banking and construction disputes.

Bakouchi & Habachi - HB Law Firm LLP has significant experience in litigation, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution. Managing partners Kamal Habachi and Salima Bakouchi acted for Samir subsidiary Transport des Stockages et Produits Petroliers in matters arising from the oil refinery's liquidation.

CWA Morocco is closely affiliated with Eversheds Sutherland (International) LLP and through that relationship has a role in significant cross-border disputes. The firm recently acted for a Moroccan group in numerous shipping disputes. Mohamed Oulkhouir is the key contact.

El Amari & Rouissi has a small litigation practice but joins the ranking on the strength of its international client base in high-profile matters. Mariam Rouissi is acting for BP Oil as a creditor in matters arising from the liquidation of oil refinery SAMIR. Oetker Hotel Management Company is also among the firm's clients.

At Hajji & Associés, Amin Hajji is the key partner and he advises domestic and international companies on both litigation and arbitration. His recent work includes acting for Glencore in ongoing matters arising from the liquidation of the state-owned Samir oil refinery.

At LPA-CGR, dispute resolution is an increasingly active practice area and its work for large domestic and international clients sees it join the ranking. Lina Fassi Fihri and Romain Berthon are the key contacts. Berthon is recommended for his work in international arbitration.

Mernissi - FIGES is best known for projects work but also handles notable international arbitration matters for project investors. Mohamed Mernissi, who is president of the Moroccan Court of Arbitration, is highly respected.

    Special Purpose Acquisition Companies (" SPAC "), which are incorporated to achieve the purpose of investing and merging with a non-public company, were first introduced in the United States in 1990s and recently increased its popularity globally. Unlike other countries, SPACs entered into Turkish legal system relatively late with the Communiqué on Common Principles Regarding Significant Transactions and Appraisal Right (Communiqué No. II-23.1) of the Capital Markets Board (" CMB "), published in the Official Gazette dated 24.12.2013 numbered 28861(" Appraisal Right Communiqué "). Currently, there is no SPAC listed under Borsa Istanbul (" BIST ") in Turkey. SPACs are very similar to venture capital structure and can be considered as a strong alternative for investors and shareholders in Turkey as well.
