Notable cases: R(Hambleton) v HM Coroner for the Birmingham (1974) Inquests (appeal on the extent to which an inquest can consider the identity of perpetrators of unlawful killings); Khan v Chief Constables of West Midlands Police and of Northamptonshire Police [2017] EWHC 2185 (QB) (claim for false imprisonment and defamation by a man arrested under the Terrorism Act); FE v YE [2018] Fam 24 (intervention on behalf of the Home Secretary on the interplay between immigration and family law); Grey v Commissioner of Police [2016] EWCA Civ 1360 (second appeal to the Court of Appeal in relation to the seizure of a car suspected of not being insured); Murray v Chief Constable of Lancashire [2015] EWCA Civ 1174 (the leading case on the test for imposing an interim gang injunction). Inquests into the death of Alexander Perepilichnyy (Russian businessman and whistle-blower); the 1974 Birmingham Pub Bombings; and the death of Francis Andrade (victim of child sexual abuse who killed herself having given evidence against her attackers).
