Career

Eugenio’s practice focuses on intellectual and industrial property rights, primarily in matters relating to tra- demarks and patents, copyright, information technology, advertising law, licensing and brand protection, plant varieties, appellations of origin and geographical indications, and litigation.

At the same time, he has implemented strategies for the protection of the rights of industrial property in Chile and abroad for a significant portfolio of national and international clients in industries such as retail, pharmaceutical, telecommunications and transport, among others.

Eugenio is consistently recognized by the prestigious legal ranking, Chambers & Partners in the category of Life Sciences due to his experience in patent, trademark and regulatory affairs in the pharmaceutical sector. Additionally, he is featured in IAM Patent 1000 and World Trademark Review 1000.

The eight-strong IP department at Albagli Zaliasnik is experienced in digital and internet rights, copyright, trade marks, patents, and anti-piracy issues. The team also advises on IP licensing, and industrial and business secrets. A partner since 2020, IP group director Eugenio Gormáz routinely assists with the protection of industrial property rights for retail, pharmaceutical, telecoms and transportation sector clients. Litigation head Ariela Agosin also maintains an active IP practice; and at senior associate level, Antonia Nudman‘s practice focuses on the defence and protection of intangible assets, along with new technologies, software, trade marks, patents, and domain names. In late 2022, former senior associate Juan Pablo Zamora departed to found his own firm.

Chile > Consumer and advertising law

Albagli Zaliasnik is the sole Chilean-member firm of the Global Advertising Lawyers Alliance, which provides access to law firms in over 65 countries, and the practice represents several large companies -such as Snap Inc- with regard to their advertising law needs. IP leader Eugenio Gormáz heads up the consumer and ‘ad-law’ team, while senior partner Ariela Agosin leads the disputes group. At senior associate level, Dafne Guerra handles day-to-day consumer law work; and Juan Pablo Zamora and Antonia Nudman both assist with advertising law matters. At the more junior end, Gonzalo Bravo rounds out the practice group.

The six-strong practice at Albagli Zaliasnik comprises data protection, media and IT specialists who regularly assist multinational companies with due diligence processes. The team also advises on privacy impact-assessments for new services, the creation of privacy policies, and the verification of start-up-related database use and information processing. The IT, media and data privacy practice is led by Eugenio Gormaz, who is also the firm’s IP group director. Associate Natalia González is experienced in technology matters, including privacy, personal data protection, IP and fintech issues.
