Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP maintains a solid presence in the renewable energy space, handling a significant volume of transactional tax matters due in large part to the specialization of Houston-based co-head Robert McNamara. The team is also noted for handling tax-driven entities such as MLPs and REITs, as well as structured finance and securitization matters, an area in which fellow co-head Cecelia Philipps Horner is an essential contact from the Richmond office. Also in Richmond, Kendal Sibley concentrates on public and private REITs and private investment funds. Other recommended individuals include Leslie Okinaka in New York and Houston-based partners Thomas Ford and Allison Mantor. Dallas-based William Freeman joined the firm in October 2022, bolstering the firm’s energy-related tax work.
