Career

Alejandro is a Special Counsel in the San José, Costa Rica office of BLP. He specializes in the practice area of Dispute Resolution. He has more than 20 years of experience in criminal sciences, as a lawyer, an academic, and as a consultant in the elaboration of projects and law reforms at the national and international level.

His experience working with international organizations includes the preparation of multiple legal manuals, models, diagnoses, and policies for organizations such as UNICEF, USAID, PANIAMOR, MarViva, and the Inter-American Institute of Human Rights, among others.

Additionally, he has excelled in the academic field as a university professor in institutions such as the University of Costa Rica, the International University of the Americas, the National University of Costa Rica and the Judicial School of Costa Rica. He has also participated as a teacher and speaker in the training of Prosecutors, Advocates, Judges and experts in different countries of Latin America, including Mexico, Panama, Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, and Costa Rica, specifically in matters of oral litigation and prosecution before juries. He is the author of multiple articles for important legal media such as the Inter-American Institute of Human Rights, UNICEF, the Judicial Power of Costa Rica, and the Magazine of the Public Ministry of Defense of Argentina, among others.

He joined the BLP team in 2017 as Special Counsel in Dispute Resolution where he brings his extensive knowledge in the area of litigation, especially in criminal matters and civil liability. Alejandro comes to BLP after a long career as a public defender, where he completed his work as Deputy Director of Public Defense after serving as Supervisor, Coordinator, and Public Defender in the Public Defense of Costa Rica.
