Position

Rachel is a senior associate in the property team specialising in planning law. She advises public and private sector clients on (often complex) contentious and non-contentious planning matters. Her practice encompasses assisting clients with complex planning applications and appeals, judicial review proceedings, development plan inquiries, enforcement matters and planning agreements.  Rachel also advises both landlords and tenants on a wide range of commercial property matters including the leasing of commercial property, dilapidations and also advising on property aspects of corporate transactions (many multi-jurisdictional).

Career

Rachel began her property law career at a leading niche planning law practice in the UK and she brings this combined UK and Guernsey planning and technical expertise to bear in her work for Carey Olsen, providing a valuable and unique perspective in commercial property matters and achieving some significant outcomes.

She has published numerous articles in relation to the development of Guernsey’s planning laws and guidance on its practical application.

Education

Rachel was admitted as a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales in 2005. She worked for a leading niche planning law practice in the UK before moving to Guernsey in 2010.  Before joining Carey Olsen in 2015, Rachel worked at another law firm in Guernsey.
