Steve has been a Partner at the firm since 1988. He is qualified under the laws of Jersey, the British Virgin Islands and England and Wales. Steve is also a Notary Public. Steve is a member of the highly experienced private wealth team, offering bespoke and tailored structuring solutions to ultra-high net families.

Steve acts for a range of international high net worth private clients in relation to their estate planning and trust and fiduciary structures. In addition, utilising Steve`s long experience in advising trustees and other fiduciaries on their legal obligations, Steve has a portfolio of trusteeships for high net worth clients of Ogier.

Steve has been recognised in Who`s Who Legal`s Global Elite Thought Leader`s list from 2017 to 2020. This list highlights the most highly regarded private client advisers in the world and Steve is recognised as one of their five leading offshore practitioners. Steve is also ranked as a Star Individual by the Chambers Global directory for 2020 and is a member of the Hall of Fame for Legal 500 for 2020 which recognises practitioners who have been in Band 1 for their specialism for 10 years or more

Ogier‘s private wealth team works alongside the firm’s corporate, funds and private equity practices to support HNW families seeking to set up trusts in Jersey, advising on the establishment and management of complex trust structures and private investment funds, with an increased focus on ESG investments. Beyond trusts, the practice has assisted with setting up Jersey-registered charities and other philanthropic vehicles, as well as building up its ties to clients in the Middle and Far East. James Campbell and Josephine Howe jointly lead the practice, advising professional trustees and family offices on all aspects of Jersey trusts, with the latter also providing support in regard to charitable structures. Katherine Neal is the group’s employee incentives specialist, advising on employee reward schemes, pension plans and JPUTs, while Henry Wickham handles matters relating to estate planning and issues concerning wills. Steve Meiklejohn is noted for his work advising HNWIs on estate planning, trust and fiduciary structures.
