Justin’s practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, finance, infrastructure, and litigious investor exits.
His mergers and acquisitions practice includes advising on domestic and offshore acquisitions (ranging from organic joint ventures to venture capital and private equity investments).

His area of expertise includes foreign direct investment in restricted industry sectors such as defence, banking, and retail. Justin also has an extensive structured finance practice.

He is also developing the Firm’s Infrastructure Practice, extending from the development of ports and roads to logistics. Justin also advises clients on mandates relating to anti-corruption and ethics.

He chairs the Employment Law Practice at the Firm and oversees the development of the Firm’s Impact Policy Group, which includes policy engagement, government relations, impact mandates, and pro bono engagements.

Alka Bharucha, who has over three decades of experience in the M&A market, is proficient in the telecoms, banking and power sectors. She leads the team alongside Justin Bharucha, whose legal specialisms include foreign direct investments in highly regulated industries.

A substantial roster of multinational clients retains Bharucha & Partners’ labour and employment practice for HR guidance pertaining to ESOP structuring, whistleblowing policy support, POSH matters, M&A due diligence and senior-level hires and exits. Another area of activity for the firm is private equity transactions involving infrastructure projects, with a special emphasis on the ports, railways and roads segment. The department is jointly led by Alka Bharucha, who focuses on project finance, and Justin Bharucha, who regularly advises on power projects.

Bharucha & Partners advises international and domestic lenders and borrowers on various forms of finance, including asset finance, syndicated loans and project finance. Justin Bharucha specialises in rupee and foreign exchange denominated facilities, having advised numerous India and international borrowers on debt raising, including the Macquarie Group. Rohit Sharma, who joined the practice from ASA Legal in February 2020, has particular expertise in asset-backed finance, external commercial borrowings, corporate finance, project finance and securitisation.
