Career

KK has wide experience in dealing with a variety of private and government building projects in Hong Kong, some of which was gained when practising as a quantity surveyor. He also acts for developers, contractors and subcontractors in construction projects, in litigation, arbitration and mediation and undertakes general advisory work in relation to construction contracts in Hong Kong, Macau and Mainland China. He conducts CIETAC arbitrations in Shenzhen, Shanghai and Beijing and acts as an arbitrator and mediator in construction and commercial disputes. KK handles complex, high value shareholders’ disputes, often involving multiple jurisdictions. He also handles cross-border commercial disputes involving Hong Kong, Mainland China and other countries.

Highlights

  • Advising a public body to deal with claims from its consultants and contractors involving complicated legal issues in its property development in Hong Kong
  • Acting for a listed company in Hong Kong defending a substantial claim arising out of their project in Mongolia and successfully resisted an application for summary judgment
  • Acting for a hotel management company pursuing its claim against a PRC developer in various arbitrations in Hong Kong and Mainland China
  • Advising on a dispute involving a HK$10 billion Macau casino project
  • Acting for a minority shareholder in a very complex, HK$multi-billion shareholders’ dispute, involving multiple jurisdictions, with one of the trials lasting for 35 days in Hong Kong, with over 30 lawyers in the Courtroom.
  • Advising in a family shareholders’ dispute,  involving proceedings in a number of jurisdictions
