Career

Simon has more than 25 years’ experience in family law. He facilitates the smooth progress of complex financial matters and seeks to defuse and actively resolve high-conflict children disputes. Wherever there are children, he provides constructive and effective legal guidance, ensuring that everyone involved considers those children’s interests as a priority. He aims for constructive negotiations and the use of non-court dispute resolution processes wherever workable, and provides expert conduct of litigation and court advocacy if not. Simon’s clients come from all walks of life and a wide geographical area, and many are referred to him by former clients and fellow legal professionals. He is passionate about achieving good service and the best possible outcome at an appropriate cost. He is a collaborative practitioner and also accepts instructions as a Family Law Arbitrator for children’s cases.

Cambridge Family Law Practice is a boutique firm with six partners who exhibit ‘refreshingly collegiate approach with deep experience of family law’. Clients remark upon the ‘care, empathy and honesty’ shown by the partners. ‘The intelligence and humour which he brought to our meetings made a huge difference’, said one client of Jeremy Ford, whose practice includes surrogacy law, child abduction, and the medical treatment of children disputes. Tricia Ashton is ‘excellent both in the strategy phase and its implementation’. Simon Bethel has ‘a pragmatic approach and an ability to cut to the nub of the issue‘. Adam Moghadas, Gail Marchant-Daisley, and up-and-coming partner Kathryn Evans, who ‘combines detailed and practical knowledge of relevant case law with genuine compassion for her clients‘, are also highly recommended.
