Position

Annemieke (LLM UCL) heads Van Doorne’s Insurance team. She works in Van Doorne’s offices in Amsterdam and London.

Annemieke is an expert on insurance law and Directors & Officers liability.

She handles disputes on behalf of and between insurers. Annemieke advises on policy conditions, in particularly in the area of D&O liability and professional liability insurance, fraud and other financial lines. M&A-related claims and cyber risks are more recent practice areas. As coverage counsel she also represents primary and/or excess layers in (cross-border) discussions between the different layers of an insurance tower and/or different programs.

Insurers often instruct Annemieke as defence counsel for D&O’s of companies and non-profit organisations, including housing corporations and healthcare institutions, in national and international disputes.

In addition, Annemieke frequently acts as monitoring counsel to liaise between defence counsel to get the best result for all insureds, in cases of conflicting interests between insureds.

Annemieke frequently publishes and lectures on the subject of D&O liability and insurance. She is a member of the editorial team of the online publication “VAST” (magazine for insurance and liability law, including regulatory law).

Career

Annemieke joined Van Doorne in 1997, becoming a partner in 2011. Frequently lectures and publishes, in particular on D&O liability.

Education

Annemieke graduated from Maastricht University in 1996 and, in 1997, she gained a Master’s Degree from the University of London (UCL).
