Career

Haco van der Houven van Oordt is a lawyer and partner at AKD. He is an international litigation specialist with a focus on shipping and offshore. Haco has extensive experience with disputes involving marine accidents and the construction and operation of ships and offshore objects.

Haco is proficient in the preparation and execution of an international litigation strategy. He is an expert in the field of attachments and the enforcement of securities and frequently litigates in connection with marine insurance. Haco is regularly involved in disputes in and around the Dutch Caribbean. Clients appreciate his drive and creativity which often lead to original solutions.

Haco lectures maritime law at Utrecht University and is an editor of the maritime and insurance law review ‘Schip & Schade’. He is also a member of the supervisory board of the Maritime Museum and of the International Working Group on Polar Shipping – Subgroup Antarctic Shipping of the Comité Maritime International.
