Benedikt joined LOGOS in 2005, became a Partner in 2013 and has been the Managing Partner since 2022. He was previously with the Competition Appeals Council from 2004-2005.

Benedikt graduated from the University of Iceland as cand.jur, in 2005. Qualified as an Attorney in 2006 and is a Certified Securities Broker since 2008. He received his LL.M. degree in International Financing from King´s College London in 2009.

The ‘user-friendly team’ at LOGOS is ‘very experienced’ in the area of financial restructurings, bankruptcies and insolvency proceedings, frequently acting on behalf of businesses, major financial institutions and private individuals on a range of matters including bankruptcies, payment suspensions, negotiations and the implementation of arrangements with creditors. Work on behalf of creditors of insolvent estates and distressed enterprises, alongside mandatory set-offs and company liquidations are further focuses of the team. Practice head and Supreme Court attorney Heiðar Ásberg Atlason is well experienced in bankruptcy proceedings. At LOGOS, project development work, financings and transactions, permit issues, environmental mandates, public procurement processes, real estate insurance claims and litigation constitute the bulk of the team’s workload. Fielding an experienced team, capable of handling both domestic and cross-border work, the group provides advice at every stage of the construction process to major Icelandic construction companies, including Istak and the Government Construction Contracting Agency. Practice group head and Supreme Court attorney Hjördís Halldórsdóttir regards construction and public procurement work among her specialisms; she is supported by experienced practitioners Erlendur Gíslason and Benedikt Egill Árnason.

Corporate, commercial and M&A remains a core focus at LOGOS, offering clients a full-service across all aspects of the sectors. Large scale M&A transactions is a key discipline of the ‘highly skilled team’, on which the team act for market-leading domestic and international firms including Origo, Arion Bank and Siminn. The group acted on a seller-side mandate to advise the latter on an acquisition by private investment fund, Arian – one of the largest M&A transactions in Icelandic history. The practice is jointly headed by three practitioners: Benedikt Egill Árnason who acts for leading corporate clients and private equity firms, M&A and restructurings specialist Guðbjörg Helga Hjartardóttir, and dual-qualified partner Guðmundur Oddsson who has headed the London office since 2006. Thórólfur Jónsson is also recommended and regularly handles corporate restructurings.
