Career

Rafael Sánchez Aristi advises on all areas of copyright law and other intellectual property rights. He regularly advises major users (radio and television bodies, cinemas and hotel chains) on their relations and negotiations of rates with the large-scale owners of intellectual property rights, both in relation to pre-litigation and litigation matters. He also handles transactions and contracts involving intellectual property, advising clients on business models based on software and databases and advising platforms that work intensively with online content. He also has worked in the field of art law and historic-artistic heritage.

Chair professor of civil law at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos since 2018. He lectures in undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the Faculty of Legal and Social Sciences at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, as well as on other postgraduate and continuous training courses. He speaks regularly at congresses, conferences and seminars including those organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization, the European Institute of Public Administration, the European Judicial Training Network and the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property.

Member of the Association of Civil Law Lecturers and of the Literary and Artistic Association for Defense of Authors’ Rights (ALADDA)—the Spanish group of the International Literary and Artistic Association (ALAI) of which he was chair from 2015 to 2019.
