The Legal 500

Jordan > Legal market overview

The Arab Spring manifested in Jordan through a series of protests in 2011, leading to two new governments in less than a year and a 16% drop in income from tourism. Despite the bleak economic picture, law firms remain largely optimistic as long-term projects continue, providing ongoing work for firms despite a reduced flow of deals.

Notably, the market witnessed the arrival of a new foreign name to its shores following Sanad Law Group’s merger with Eversheds LLP’s Middle East network to become Sanad Law Group in association with Eversheds KSLG. This became only the fourth international brand to have an official platform in Jordan, joining Safwan Moubaydeen Law Firm in association with SNR Denton, Middle East heavyweight Al Tamimi & Company and Abdul Karim Al Fauri & Associates, which retains its close relationship with UK-headquartered Trowers & Hamlins LLP.

JC Law, a two-partner firm established in 2007, suffered a blow with the departure of one of its co-founders, Jumana Toukan, who joined Ali Sharif Zu’bi Advocates & Legal Consultants.
