Career

Allister is a Chartered Trade Mark Attorney and an authorised representative at the IPO, with over 15 years’ experience in the field of trade marks. He has been a member of CITMA, the Chartered Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys, since 2008, qualifying in 2011. Allister is also a member of the CITMA Conferences Working Group and participant in the popular CITMA Advice Clinics, which is aimed at providing a free consultation service for entities or individuals with trade mark and related questions or issues.

Allister graduated from Bournemouth University in 2006 and 2008 obtaining both a Business Law Degree and a Master of Laws (LLM) in Intellectual Property Law.

He has experience of developing and managing trade mark portfolios in many sectors, including foodstuffs, beverages, healthcare, sports technology, electrical accessories, outdoor activities, transportation, and a variety of business services. The majority of Allister’s work focuses primarily on contentious matters, i.e., opposition and pre-litigation disputes, including negotiating settlements and overcoming complex trade mark examination objections.

Allister also has an interest in US trade marks and how to best assist UK businesses in the US, and he has contributed written articles on the subject as well as general best practice trade mark advice for business in the UK and EU.

Allister joined Elkington + Fife as an Associate Trade Mark Attorney in August 2018.
