Career

Jim Russell is a partner in our Business Law, Entertainment Law and Financial Services Law groups. He joined Dentons’ Toronto office in 2014 from another Canadian law firm.

Jim focuses his practice on the motion picture, television and entertainment industries. His expertise encompasses production and project financing, corporate and syndicated financing, international and inter-provincial co-productions and co-ventures, and copyright. He has extensive experience in safeguarding intellectual property and negotiating documentation related to the structuring of production companies and entertainment ventures, as well as in the financing, production and exploitation of film, television and transmedia works.

Jim is a regular speaker on entertainment industry topics. He has made presentations on international treaty co-productions for a variety of audiences. He was also a speaker at the Entertainment, Advertising and Media Law Symposium held by the Law Society of Upper Canada in April 2011.
