The nine-strong banking and finance group at Urenda, Rencoret, Orrego y Dörr is particularly active in mining and energy project-related financings. The practice’s wide-ranging expertise also covers debt transactions, securities, derivatives, equity offerings, structured finance, securitisation, and regulatory matters. The ‘very capable and proactive’ team is co-led led by Felipe Rencoret Portales, a banking, finance and infrastructure project financing specialist, whose expertise extends to real estate, construction, corporate law and M&A; and mining sector expert Nicholas Mocarquer, who assists both borrowers and lenders with structured finance, regulatory issues, and debt and equity offerings. The eight-member team at Urenda, Rencoret, Orrego y Dörr assists with developing, adjusting and implementing internal corporate policies and codes, in order to comply with anti-corruption, competition, data protection, securities, labour, and environmental law regulations. For the firm’s international clients, the group regularly assists with adapting their compliance programmes (including those concerning the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and UK Bribery Act) to align with Chilean legislation. The practice is co-led by Nicholas Mocarquer and Rafael Rencoret, who both advise on compliance matters. The group further includes labour-related compliance practitioner Alberto Rencoret and Ignacio Urrutia, who assists with environmental law compliance.

With ‘a solid background in corporate law’, Urenda, Rencoret, Orrego y Dörr‘s sizeable corporate and M&A team is experienced in M&A transactions, shareholder agreements, joint ventures and corporate restructurings. It also assists major local and international companies with corporate and company law issues on an day-to-day basis. The department’s principal figures are: Gonzalo Rencoret, who provides large companies with day-to-day assistance; Nicholas Mocarquer, who displays ‘knowledge that provides comfort to clients’; and experienced M&A practitioners Sergio Orrego and Felipe Rencoret. The group also includes Rafael Rencoret – a partner since early 2023 – who routinely acts on large-scale transactions; and corporate and M&A-focused  senior associate Bernardita Schmidt, who has ‘huge knowledge of corporate law’.

Able to give comprehensive, complete and accurate recommendations’, Urenda, Rencoret, Orrego y Dörr‘s seven-strong mining practice acts for both Chilean and international clients at every stage of a mining projects’ lifecycle. A member firm of the Multilaw and World Law Group international networks, the firm’s specialisms range from mining title reviews, to drafting and negotiating agreements for purchase options, financings, joint ventures, explorations, construction, royalties, streaming and easements. The team also assists with reviewing water-rights titles, obtaining permits and reclamation actions. The practice is additionally able to leverage the firm’s notable expertise in environmental law, labour matters, taxation and litigation for major mining projects. Recent mandates include advising Osisko Gold Royalties on the acquisition of two royalties. The team is headed by veteran mining industry specialist Sergio Orrego, whose wide-ranging caseload includes advising on the implementation and operation of projects. The department further includes Gonzalo Rencoret, whose expertise includes mining project matters; and Rafael Rencoret, an adviser to significant clients such as BHP, Minera Escondida and Minera Spence.
