Urenda, Rencoret, Orrego y Dörr‘s five-lawyer practice routinely advises on major mining and energy investment projects. Its assistance covers environmental impact assessments, obtaining and maintaining environmental permits and environmental compliance. The group also acts for both claimants and defendants during administrative sanctioning proceedings before the environmental, health and water authorities. The team is led by regulatory and environmental law specialist Ignacio Urrutia, whose career includes eight years at Chile’s environmental agency (then known as the National Environment Commission); he is supported by key associate Javiera Vicuña whose practice takes in water, energy and mining law.

Urenda, Rencoret, Orrego y Dörr ‘s six-strong compliance group is experienced in the implementation of internal corporate policies and codes, in relation to anti-corruption, competition law, data protection, securities, and labour and environmental legislation. The department also assists with internal reviews. The practice is jointly led by Alberto Rencoret, an expert in labour law compliance matters; Nicholas Mocarquer, who advises on anti-corruption, competition and data protection-related compliance issues; and environmental law compliance specialist Ignacio Urrutia.

The nine-strong team at Urenda, Rencoret, Orrego y Dörr is mandated at all stages of projects, its advice encompassing public and private bidding processes, corporate structures, and construction and financing contracts. It also assists with related tax, labour and environmental law issues, as well as obtaining permits and authorisations. In terms of sector expertise, the department covers power generation, NCRE, mining, infrastructure, and real estate. Sergio Orrego, whose track record incorporates industrial, infrastructure, mining and energy projects; and fellow projects partner Gonzalo Errázuriz, are the principal practitioners. Also key to the team: Ignacio Urrutia is an environmental law expert and Felipe Rencoret is also active in projects and infrastructure-related work.

Urenda, Rencoret, Orrego y Dörr‘s six-member practice covers all aspects of energy projects, including risk analysis, asset acquisition-related due diligence, strategic alliances, and projects’ environmental impact assessments. The team also advises on easements, permits, tax issues, project financing, and energy-related disputes and administrative procedures. Heading the firm’s energy and natural resources practice, ‘great negotiatorSergio Orrego has longstanding experience in energy project development, including power plants and transmission lines; and he is particularly focused on non-conventional renewable energies, such as wind farms and run-of-the-river power plants. Key support is provided by energy and environmental law expert Ignacio Urrutia, whose career includes several years at CONAMA (the predecessor agency to the Government’s Environmental Assessment Service); and associate Javiera Vicuña, who advises on energy, water, mining and corporate law.
