The group can also draw upon the expertise of the firms specialists in environmental, labour and tax matters, as well as litigation, for its mining projects. A former foreign lawyer at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP‘s New York office, practice head Sergio Orrego has longstanding experience in mining, projects, corporate, M&A and energy and natural resources work; and fellow name partner Gonzalo Rencoret‘s track record includes advising on significant mining projects. At associate level, Verónica Roa regularly advises on exploration, option and joint venture agreements, while Javiera Vicuña assists with water, energy, mining and corporate matters.

The energy and natural resources practice is led by energy projects specialist Sergio Orrego, while Ignacio Urrutia‘s career includes eight years at CONAMA, predecessor agency to the current Environmental Assessment Service. The practice also provides general corporate assistance to major local and international companies on a day-to-day basis. Additionally, the firm is the Chilean member firm of the Multilaw and World Law Group international networks. The core group of established and experienced partners, all of whom advise on M&A deals, shareholder agreements and joint ventures, is comprised of Gonzalo Rencoret, Nicholas MocarquerSergio Orrego and Felipe Rencoret. Within the firm’s senior associate pool, Bernardita Schmidt is routinely active in corporate and M&A work, while Rafael Rencoret has significant experience in major transactions. Former partner Rodrigo de Alencar left the firm in January 2022.

Urenda, Rencoret, Orrego y Dörr‘s seven-member practice routinely acts on bonds and other debt-certificate issuances, along with public tender offers. The team also assists publicly-held corporations and brokers with issues involving the Securities Agency and the stock market. The practice is co-led by Felipe Rencoret, who advises on securities and associated compliance matters, and Sergio Orrego, whose practice includes IPOs and tender offers. Further partner-level, capital markets support is provided by Gonzalo Rencoret and Nicholas Mocarquer, while associate Isidora Zañartu possesses securities and regulatory expertise. Its advice extends to bidding processes, corporate structures, tax regimes and labour issues, along with environmental impact matters, financing, disputes and obtaining permits. The practice is co-led by industrial, infrastructure, mining and energy project specialist Sergio Orrego; and Gonzalo Errázuriz, who is also an experienced projects partner. Also key to the team are environmental law expert Ignacio Urrutia, and Felipe Rencoret, who acts on both infrastructure and projects matters.
