The nine-strong banking and finance group at Urenda, Rencoret, Orrego y Dörr is particularly active in mining and energy project-related financings. The practice’s wide-ranging expertise also covers debt transactions, securities, derivatives, equity offerings, structured finance, securitisation, and regulatory matters. The ‘very capable and proactive’ team is co-led led by Felipe Rencoret Portales, a banking, finance and infrastructure project financing specialist, whose expertise extends to real estate, construction, corporate law and M&A; and mining sector expert Nicholas Mocarquer, who assists both borrowers and lenders with structured finance, regulatory issues, and debt and equity offerings. Providing further support, veteran practitioner Sergio Orrego has deep banking and finance experience, and Rafael Rencoret‘s broad offering covers bankruptcy and reorganisations.

Chile > Capital markets

A member firm of the Multilaw and World Law Group international networks, Urenda, Rencoret, Orrego y Dörr‘s eight-member team houses considerable expertis across a range of capital markets’ matters, including equity and debt deals involving IPOs, bonds and other debt certificate issuances. The group also advises on public tender offers, in addition to assisting several publicly-held corporations, brokers and entities with their interactions with the Securities Agency. The team is co-led by Felipe Rencoret, an adviser to company boards on securities and compliance; and Sergio Orrego, whose wide-ranging practice covers securities, IPOs and tender offers. Gonzalo Rencoret and Nicholas Mocarquer also both assist with capital markets work, and semi-senior associate Isidora Zañartu is experienced in securities laws and regulation.

Fielding ‘super-specialised and responsible lawyers who deliver the best advice’, Urenda, Rencoret, Orrego y Dörr‘s competition and antitrust practice is experienced in handling both TDLC cases and FNE investigations. The team also assists with merger control assessments, commercial agreements, distribution policies, vertical restraints, collaborations and compliance programmes. The practice additionally covers international unfair competition matters, particularly anti-dumping and safeguarding cases. The department is co-led by the ‘very capableNicholas Mocarquer, an expert in alleged collusive behaviour, abuse of dominance, merger control, and anti-dumping; and Gonzalo Rencoret, who regularly acts in TDLC procedures and FNE investigations. Associate Bernardita Schmidt is also a key competition team member.

The eight-member team at Urenda, Rencoret, Orrego y Dörr assists with developing, adjusting and implementing internal corporate policies and codes, in order to comply with anti-corruption, competition, data protection, securities, labour, and environmental law regulations. For the firm’s international clients, the group regularly assists with adapting their compliance programmes (including those concerning the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and UK Bribery Act) to align with Chilean legislation. The practice is co-led by Nicholas Mocarquer and Rafael Rencoret, who both advise on compliance matters. The group further includes labour-related compliance practitioner Alberto Rencoret and Ignacio Urrutia, who assists with environmental law compliance.

Chile > Data privacy

The four-member group at Urenda, Rencoret, Orrego y Dörr acts for a range of local and international clients on data protection matters, including in relation to labour law issues. The team is co-led by. Alberto Rencoret, who routinely advises on labour-related data matters; and Nicholas Mocarquer, an adviser to international clients on the implementation of their data privacy policies. In the associate pool, Bernardita Schmidt is increasingly involved in data protection work, while Verónica Roa‘s experience includes reviewing data protection policies, as well as their implementation.

With ‘a solid background in corporate law’, Urenda, Rencoret, Orrego y Dörr‘s sizeable corporate and M&A team is experienced in M&A transactions, shareholder agreements, joint ventures and corporate restructurings. It also assists major local and international companies with corporate and company law issues on an day-to-day basis. The department’s principal figures are: Gonzalo Rencoret, who provides large companies with day-to-day assistance; Nicholas Mocarquer, who displays ‘knowledge that provides comfort to clients’; and experienced M&A practitioners Sergio Orrego and Felipe Rencoret. The group also includes Rafael Rencoret – a partner since early 2023 – who routinely acts on large-scale transactions; and corporate and M&A-focused  senior associate Bernardita Schmidt, who has ‘huge knowledge of corporate law’.
