Position

Raul Castro de la Guardia is a Partner and heads the Estate Planning and Corporate Services Department of the firm.

Mr. Castro has almost 25 years of experience in the use of corporations as asset protection vehicles and has specialized in tax consultancy, the design and implementation of cross-border structures and corporate and estate planning.

His clients range from fellow practitioners, professionals in the financial and trust sector as well as families mainly from Europe and Latin America.

He is the President of MMG Fund Services (Bahamas) and managing partner and President of the Board of MMG Trust, S.A., a duly licensed trust company in Panama, thus his experience in the management of fiduciary structures and their uses, is extensive.

Mr. Castro has worked as an advisor to the Panamanian government regarding international tax matters, CRS and FATCA implementation and is currently a member of Panama’s tax treaty negotiation team. He has been instrumental in helping the Panamanian government in passing legislation and policies that help the jurisdiction comply with international requirements from FATF and OECD.

Mr. Castro obtained a B.A in Financial Management from The Catholic University of the Americas in Washington D.C., U.S.A. and a JD in 1996 from Universidad de Puerto Rico.
