The integrated litigation and arbitration practice at Muñiz, Olaya, Meléndez, Castro, Ono & Herrera Abogados is instructed by multiple leading companies on a range of matters, from shareholder arbitrations on behalf of conglomerates (Wong Group) to defending product liability cases for a leading pharmaceutical multinational (Bayer). Of note is the firm’s busy caseload of judicial proceedings against the Peruvian tax authority, SUNAT, where the firm is acting for Telefónica del Perú, Compañía Minera Buenaventura and Interbank. Strong leadership by Fernando Meléndez, who fronts the tax litigation and much of the broader caseload, is supported by the expertise of arbitrator Edwin Pezo and litigator Ericka Angulo. Among eight dedicated associates, seniors Julissa Yamani and Carla Cueva, and semi-senior Carla De Los Santos – formerly of Estudio Simons – who joined the firm in August 2019, constitute a strong second line.
