Within: Private equity funds (including venture capital)

Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP reports an increase in sovereign wealth fund matters, and in this space, Peter Phleger in San Francisco advised Pantheon Ventures on a $2bn commitment into a customized fund from Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF), the sovereign wealth fund of Japan. Paul McCoy, who operates out of the New York and San Francisco offices, represented the Public Investment Fund (PIF) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in a $50m investment in Warburg Pincus Financial Sector LP. Pension plan matters are another core area of strength; Louis Singer, who splits his time between London and New York, advised the New York City Comptroller's Office on the launch of a number of strategic partnerships, with an aggregate value of $3bn, between KKR and five New York City pension funds. Gerald Kehoe, who advises Lime Rock Partners, is a key contact in the Boston office.
