Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP‘s ‘strong‘ team houses ‘excellent lawyers‘; the group has been kept busy with funds-of-one work as well as fund formation mandates and regulatory matters. Jedd Wider and Christopher Dlutowski, both based in New York, continue to advise the California Public Employees’ Retirement Scheme (CalPERS), most recently on the formation and launch of a fund-of-one. In the Boston office, Stephen Tirrell advised Mariner Investment Group on forming a fund with a key focus on the mortgage-backed security (MBS) markets, while Richard Goldman advised Innocap Investment Management, a Canadian hedge fund manager, on forming a number of private funds for a Canadian pension plan; Steven Giordano is also a key name. In Miami, Ethan Johnson advised HODL Investments on the formation of a cryptocurrency fund, and assisted Dragon Capital with forming a fund for investing in exchange-listed securities in Vietnam. Wider and Goldman jointly lead the practice.
