Career

She initiated her professional career in a Big Four firm, and after 4 years of experience in the corporate law area, she departed to London to study in Queen Mary University of London where she obtained a Law master’s degree in Intellectual Property. She provides support to national and translational companies in protecting, exploiting, and enforcing their trademarks. Ariana manages complex trademark’s portfolios in the region for food, technology, and pharmaceutical sector industries. Furthermore, she assists international companies in the food and personal care industries on their entry into the regional market by developing a trademark strategy, that includes regional registration of key brands, streamlining portfolios, filing non-use cancellation actions and/or nullity actions against third party mark owners, and preparing acquisition agreements. She works side to side with global technology leaders, major fashion industry companies on their brand protection strategies, by conducting enforcement actions, including cease-and-desist letters, Internet take-down requests, and customs actions.

Moreover, Ariana has vast experience prosecuting PCT ´s national phase patent applications for global pharmaceutical, medical devices, and agrochemical companies. She prepared responses to technical examinations and oppositions filed by the Federation of Pharmaceutical Companies of Centro America, for a family of patents directed to pharmaceutical compositions for the treatment of cancer with a worldwide license agreement valued in millions of dollars, that led to the patents being granted in Costa Rica. Ariana also has expertise in data protection and consumer protection matters.
