For over 25 years, Partner, Colin, has specialised in insurance and reinsurance policy coverage advice and related disputes involving the London and Lloyd’s market.  He joined the London office of Browne Jacobson in January 2017.

Colin’s experience covers most classes but primarily: Reinsurance /Property/ Engineering/Machinery Breakdown/EAR, CAR, DSU/Construction/Liability/ High Net Worth/Specie.  

He has considerable experience of large scale property damage and business interruption claims – whether in the course of construction or operational – involving things such as smelters, turbines, generators, bridges, mines, transmitters, cranes, warehouses and educational facilities.   He also advises on High Net Worth policies and Specie claims.  He has experience of handling matters in Europe, Scandinavia, North America, and Latin America.

Matters include: advising London reinsurers on claims arising from the Chilean earthquake of 2010; advising on property damage and business interruption claims at aluminium smelters in West Africa and Scandinavia; advising London insurers on damage to oil storage tanks in Texas; advising on a bridge collapse in Russia; advising excess layer insurers on claims arising from the Australian bushfires of 2009; advising on cash in transit claims in Kenya; advising on EAR/CAR claims arising from a metro project in Denmark; advising on collapsed crane in Africa; advising on a fire at a substantial UK country estate;  advising on a fire at a UK university. 

Colin is recommended in both UK legal directories, The Legal 500 (2007-2018) and Chambers (2014-2017).  He is a regular contributor to industry press, seminars and webinars.
