Career

Victoria specialises in advising the public and private sector on health and social care real estate. She has experience of a wide variety of transactions including site assembly, development, investment acquisitions, disposals and asset management.

Victoria who has over 25 years’ experience in the real estate sector joined us as a Partner in January 2017 from Nabarro LLP to set up from scratch a national Independent Health and Social Care Real Estate team. The Health Sector is a key sector for the firm and Victoria’s appointment as a real estate specialist in the sector was critical to the firm’s health and social care sector strategy to enable us to offer full specialist knowledge service to independent clients in that sector.  In 2018 Victoria took over as national Head of Health and Social Care Real Estate covering both the public and independent sector. She is also a member of the firm’s multi-disciplinary Health and Social Care Sector team, and a member of the Health Strategy Board.

Prior to Victoria joining the firm it did not have a dedicated real estate team with specialist knowledge or experience in the independent health and social care sector, although it had a team supporting public sector health clients. Victoria dealt with, or managed, all of the real estate work the firm was doing in the independent health and social care sector. The additional offering of a real estate specialist in this sector has enabled us to win a significant amount of work which the firm would not have been able to get without this offering, particularly in the care sector.

With the departure of the Partner who headed up the public sector health property team in March 2018, Victoria stepped up and took on the leadership and management of that team in addition to the independent sector practice. Victoria has used this as an opportunity to merge the two teams and upskill the team to enable them to understand and advise clients in both the public and independent sectors. This is a benefit to both types of clients, in terms of the breadth of knowledge and skills of the lawyers advising them, and to the business as it provides lawyers who are more adaptable to a wider range of work.

Victoria has experience of advising on a wide variety of real estate transactions including site assembly involving options and conditional contracts, development, investment, secured lending, individual and portfolio acquisitions and disposals, disposal strategies, asset management and corporate support. She has acted for public, private and third sector bodies and so understands the drivers and concerns from all sides. The work of the team reflects this broad real estate spectrum of work carried out in a specialist sector knowledge context.
