Position

Vicky joined Viberts in 2020. She is widely recognised as the “go to” person for Jersey employment law. She specialises in high profile and complex matters, including Royal Court appeals of Tribunal decisions and cases involving directors of international trust businesses and other key employees. Vicky advises senior executives, private businesses and public sector entities on all aspects of employment law. She is regularly sought after to speak on and quoted in relation to employment issues affecting the Island, including in the 2019 Gender Pay Gap Scrutiny Review Panel. She has acted as an expert witness on Jersey law in the High Court of Justice of England & Wales.

Vicky has specialised in employment law since 2001 and her experience includes successful litigation in ground-breaking areas, such as challenging the powers of the Jersey Employment and Discrimination Tribunal and testing the geographical scope of Jersey law in relation to offshore employment. She represented The Law Society of Jersey in a case raising discrimination and human rights issues in connection with admission to the Jersey Bar. She also appears in Jersey’s Mental Health Review Tribunal and has advised on issues concerning mental health and mental capacity of senior personnel. Previously Vicky has been Chair of Digital Jersey’s Regulation & Legislation Technical Action Group, Jersey’s Representative for the Employment Lawyers Association (“ELA”) and a long-standing member of the Institute of Directors’ Industries Sub-Committee.

Vicky Milner leads the practice, supporting senior employees and employers in complex matters concerning claims of discrimination, negligence and psychiatric injury. Giles Emmanuel, who heads the firm’s dispute resolution team, regularly handles compromise agreements, breaches of contract claims and personal injury cases.
