Career

As Of Counsel of the Budapest office at Bird & Bird, Konrád specialises in banking, finance and capital markets transactions, offering considerable experience in M&A, bankruptcy and restructuring, as well as energy projects and general corporate and commercial law.

During three decades of experience, he has represented Hungarian and international banks, as well as borrower companies, in numerous project finance and syndicated lending transactions, mostly in the energy and real estate sectors. He has also advised on regulatory matters in bank sale, purchase and merger transactions, and has provided regulatory advice on standard form legal documentation for investment banks and financial institutions.

Over the years, he has also been involved in a number of public offerings and private share placements, as well as stock exchange listings of shares and bonds. He has advised on the largest equity offerings in Hungary’s history as well as on most of the large public bond offerings in Hungary, and on a number of private placements and commercial paper programmes. He also has wide-ranging experience in complex derivative transactions, investment regulatory matters and public disclosure issues, as well as payments regulation.

His track record in corporate and M&A matters includes public company M&A, privatisations, complex corporate restructurings in numerous sectors, and mergers in banking and other industries, as well as advising on some of the largest and most complex M&A and privatisation transactions in Hungary.

Following increased investment in the solar power market in Hungary, the projects and energy team at Siegler Bird & Bird Ügyvédi Iroda has been involved in significant solar power park development projects. The practice offers advises across the real estate, hotel, infrastructure and construction sectors, including assisting with cross-border projects and developments outside of Hungary. Team head Dániel Arányi advises on the financing of energy projects and the drafting of project development agreements. Csongor Tompa brings his experience as head of the banking and finance team to the group.
