Career
Agnete joined Kammeradvokaten/the law firm Poul Schmith as an assistant attorney at the age of 26, shortly after she had given birth to her first child. At the age of just 35, Agnete was announced as a partner in the insolvency department at Poul Schmith, where she worked until she co-founded Sundgaard Advokater in 2018.
During her time as an attorney-at-law at Poul Schmith, Agnete gained solid experience within the field of insolvency law, labour law and taxational law. Agnete worked on the proceedings regarding Amagerbanken A/S, which was the largest Danish bank to go bankrupt during the financial crisis of 2008. Agnete had a co-leading role in handling the bankruptcy proceedings. Also, Agnete gained extensive experience with the liquidation of major insurance companies.
Agnete also has developed extensive experience in handling employees and employees’ rights in distressed businesses. The experience comprises all the aspects of the special challenges employees might bring within business takeovers – prior to or during bankruptcy proceedings – or generally with distressed businesses. She has led a substantial amount of court cases for and advised Lønmodtagernes Garantifond (The Danish Employees Guaranty Fund) about principal matters regarding their area of coverage.
The employees’ legal situation during insolvency proceedings and the preservation hereof, is governed by both national and EU legislation, which demands a high level of expertise.
Beginning 2024 Agnete Brus Krusell has also received the appointment of permanent administrator at the Maritime and Commercial court in Copenhagen. This makes Sundgaard Advokater one of only three law firms in Denmark two hold two of the sought after positions.
