Career

Andrés Cervantes is a Partner at Apolo Lawyers and leads the public law area of the firm, focusing his practice on consulting and litigation in constitutional law, administrative law, and tax litigation.

Andrés is a lawyer certified by the courts of the Republic of Ecuador, having graduated from the Universidad de Especialidades Espíritu Santo (2015). Additionally, he holds a Master’s in Advanced Legal Sciences from the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona (2016) and a Master’s in Constitutional Law from the University of Valencia in Spain (2018). He also earned a Ph.D. in Constitutional Law from Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona (2020). Recently, he graduated with a Master’s in Tax Law from the Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar (2023).

In academia, he is a regular professor of general theory of the process at the Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ) and teaches the course State and Constitution in the Master’s program in Constitutional Law at the UEES. He is the author of several academic contributions, notably his article on amnesties in international law for the Oxford University Encyclopedia of Comparative Constitutional Law (2019), and the book “The Inter-American Court of Human Rights and Transitional Justice,” published in the constitutional law collection of Porrúa editorial in Mexico (2021).

Andrés Cervantes is a full member of the Ecuadorian Institute of Procedural Law (IEDP), the Ibero-American Institute of Constitutional Law (IIDC), and the Association of Constitutionalists of Spain, as well as the International Society of Public Law (ICON.S). He is also affiliated with the Spanish Arbitration Club and the Swiss Arbitration Association (ASA).
