Career

Graduated in Law from the University of Exeter in 2008 and went on to achieve a distinction for his LPC from the College of Law, Guildford.  Jamie was sworn in as an Advocate of the Royal Court of Jersey in 2012 and has specialised in family law work and was quickly recognised as a Next Generation Partner by the Legal 500. He has significant experience in complex financial matters involving overseas assets and offshore structures, cross jurisdictional children matters (Including Hague Convention proceedings) as well as complicated children law matters including parental alienation. Jamie has presented to industry leaders in the UK on the complexities of Jersey trust law in matrimonial proceedings. Jamie is also a trained mediator.

Described by the Legal 500 as “A lawyer’s lawyer, never brash but cool, calm and effective. He knows his law and also knows when to take points (and when to leave them) to further his client’s interests”.

Jamie was named as one of the eprivateclient Channel Islands’ Top 35 Under 35’s in 2019, shortlisted for Family Lawyer of the Year in 2020 by Citywealth and named in the Citywealth Top 100 Future Leader awards.

Jamie previously served as Vice Chair of the Jersey Family Law Association as well as Chairman for the Jersey Women’s Refuge.

Myersons frequently assists HNWIs with complex family matters, notably divorces concerning multiple jurisdictions, as well as pre- and post-nuptial agreements. The practice is also sought after for its work on children matters, handling residence and contact orders in addition to assisting with leave to remove matters. Practice head Victoria Myerson advises wealthy individuals on financial separations and acts for both parents and courts in child-related disputes. The firm strengthened its ranks in January 2023 with the addition of Jamie Orchard from Viberts, whose practice centres on assisting HNWIs with their overseas assets and companies, as well as handling matters concerning children, including Hague Convention proceedings.
