Career

At SÉRVULO since 1999, João Amaral e Almeida is a Partner in the Public Law department. He has been a Lecturer at the Faculty of Law of the Catholic University of Portugal since 1989, and is a doctoral candidate at the same university. He was also a lecturer at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, from 1988 to 1992. He was a Member of the working group responsible for preparing the Public Contracts Code, by joint order No. 179/2006, of January 27, 2006, of the Minister of Finance and the Minster of Public Works, Transport and Communications. He was a Member of the Lisbon District Council of the Bar Association, from 2002 to 2004. He was aide to the Secretary of State of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, from 1993 to 1995, and principal legal consultant of the Legal Centre of the Council of Ministers, in 1993. He has been legal consultant to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations since 1991. He began his professional career as a trainee lawyer at the office of Professor Sérvulo Correia, from 1988 to 1990. He joined the Bar Association in 1991.
