SÉRVULO’s Global Reach
Maintaining its position as an independent Portuguese law firm, SÉRVULO is capable of providing cross-border legal services through its membership of several global networks of law firms and partnerships with prominent law firms in the Autonomous Regions of Madeira and Azores and in key jurisdictions, such as Mozambique, Angola, Guinea-Bissau, Cape Verde, São Tomé and Príncipe, Brazil, Macao and East-Timor (SÉRVULO LATITUDE⦵).
SÉRVULO LATITUDE⦵ is a multilateral network that reflects a concept of proximity between leading law firms in Portuguese-speaking jurisdictions, based on mutual trust and a flexible and non-exclusive bond that simultaneously reflects a “best friends” relationship, together with the autonomy and independence of each firm.
Assuming the internationalisation of their legal services as a common strategic objective, SÉRVULO LATITUDE⦵ members seek to position themselves within a global economy as a privileged channel in trade relations between the Portuguese-speaking countries, from the Atlantic to the Pacific and Indian oceans, spanning four continents – Africa, America, Asia and Europe.
SÉRVULO has also created a set of Foreign Desks, which provide a bespoke service to clients from various countries. Our Desks are made up of multidisciplinary teams of lawyers fluent in a variety of languages and operate in a logic of integrated services (full service).

Diversity
D&I
As the ‘pay gap’ has become a critical issue to which national legislation has been giving increasing attention in recent years and a vast number of organisations have made a strategic commitment to neutralise inequalities, SÉRVULO has been called upon to assist its clients in implementing remuneration policies consistent with the best governance practices in this field, as well as internal awareness raising initiatives, and to provide other legal services tailored to each client to improve their positioning in D&I related policies. In this context, we have recently launched a new multidisciplinary and integrated service called ‘Pay Gap’, to better serve our clients’ needs in this area that we consider of maximum and strategic relevance for the future.
SÉRVULO’s approach in this field is tailor-made, adjustable to the situation of each organisation, and focuses wholly or partially on the following dimensions: audit; diagnostics; risk assessment; definition/review of remuneration policies, in their various legal and fiscal components; design/review of equality plans; preparation of assessment programmes; planning/organising certified training; inclusive language; follow-up.
Our ‘Pay Gap’ services are often provided in close collaboration with ‘non legal’ partners, highly specialised in this area as well but with different competences, thus making our offer even more complete.
In addition to our ‘Pay Gap’ service, SÉRVULO’s D&I strategy also involves:
Internally:
- Promotion of D&I measures internally (e.g., full performance bonus unaffected in case of maternity leave, flexible regime for remote working, increase in the number of women partners).
Externally:
- Engagement/participation in several fora regarding D&I, including APPDI (where SÉRVULO heads the legal desk), iGen and the Portuguese CEO Peers network.
- Publication of updates/newsletters and other materials regarding gender and age diversity.
- Active participation in webinars and conferences, namely regarding diversity and equal pay.
- Preparation of legislative projects regarding diversity and remote working.
Social Responsibility / Pro Bono
Strands of activity:
- Pro bono legal support: In general terms, this involves providing legal support to disadvantaged communities to ensure that their basic rights are respected.
