Furthermore, it is important to us that people have access to justice, even if they do not have the financial means to cover the relevant costs. In order to practically realise this fundamental belief, we operate a number of Corporate Social Responsibility schemes that implement this goal.
- Our Accident and Personal Injury practice applies a programme for impecunious victims of traffic or employment accidents.
- Our Environment Practice applies a programme for impecunious people who have suffered environment-related damage.
- Our Employment Practice applies a programme for impecunious people who have been unfairly terminated from their work.
- Our Corporate Practice applies a programme for providing free legal support to charitable institutions and foundations.
Some of our most notable pro bono work includes the following:
OXygono is a non-profit, non-governmental, Cyprus based organisation. It consists of active and ambitious people from a variety of academic, social, political and business backgrounds.
OXygono’s main goals are the promotion of fruitful dialogue and the exchange of views among individuals of all ages. Furthermore, the organisation aims at informing, raising awareness and mobilising citizens to participate in actions related to matters of public interest.
Harris Kyriakides LLC played a major role in the foundation of OXygono by preparing the Memorandum of Association and by remaining at the organisations disposal to offer legal assistance in case any organisational and day-to-day operating issues arise. Lawyers of our firm are active members of OXygonos Board.
The MaRITeC-X consortium aims to create a Centre of Excellence based in Cyprus to act as an enabler of scientific and business excellence in Marine and Maritime issues in the Eastern Mediterranean.
The vision of MaRITeC-X project is to establish the Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI). Focusing on key priority sectors such as maritime transport, offshore energy, maritime and coastal tourism and aquaculture, the CMMI will forge partnering relationships with well-known European institutions and businesses, active in the fields of research, technology and innovation for the Blue Economy, thus contributing to the transfer of knowledge, the development, application and dissemination of cutting-edge technologies, the exchange of best practices and the development of a critical mass of infrastructure and human capital in the Eastern Mediterranean region.
We are proud to be part of this innovative project and to offer pro bono assistance to the consortium. As the legal representatives, we assist with start-up issues, preparation of the memorandum of association, organisational and day-to-day operating issues, contractual matters, innovative structural matters and other transactions.
Charisma is a Non-profit, Charity Association dedicated to all disabled people who manage to overcome their problems and express themselves through all forms of arts such as music, dance, literature and drawing.
The ultimate goal is to fully integrate these children into society while also to send a message of acceptance of diversity to society, which is still facing disabled people with reservations and skepticism.
We act voluntarily as the legal representative of Charisma Association. Our firm provides legal services including, inter alia, the preparation of the memorandum of association and dealing with any organisational and day-to-day operating legal issues. Members of our staff are active members of Charismas Board.
