Position

Elliott Wood is a Director and Head of Private Equity and Sports & Entertainment Practice. He advises across the Banking & Finance and Corporate Mergers & Acquisitions practice areas and specialises in banking and finance matters (including acquisition and leveraged finance; aviation finance; and corporate finance); mergers & acquisitions; private equity; structured finance; syndicated and bilateral financing structures; international transactions; acquisitions and management/leveraged buy-outs; and restructuring of corporate entities.

Career

Elliott is a founding member and served on the executive committee of the Sports Law Association of South Africa. Elliott has also on occasion lectured at both Rand Afrikaans University and Pretoria University as part of their Sports Law Courses. He updated and revised certain chapters of Butterworths Forms and Precedents and is the author of the chapter “Corporate Governance in Sport” in the book “Introduction to Sports Law in South Africa” edited by R Cloete, Butterworths, 2005. Elliott is named as a recommended lawyer in Banking and Finance by The Legal500 (2014-2018) and has served on the Werksmans Executive Committee. He has also been identified as a “rising star” in Banking and M&A by IFLR1000 2018 and amed as a recommended lawyer in Banking and Finance by Legal500. (2014-2020)

Elliott has a BCom (Wits) LLB (Wits), a Higher Diploma in Company Law (cum laude) (Wits), a Certificate in Sports Law (cum laude) (RAU) and a Certificate in Financial Markets and Banking Law (Wits).
