Kevin Trudgeon is a director of Werksmans and is the head of the Commercial Department. He specialises in corporate and banking law and has extensive experience in all types of financing transactions, traversing both debt and capital markets. His knowledge in this field encompasses securitisations, project finance, bilateral and syndicated lending arrangements, structured finance, debt and capital issuances, security pooling and sharing arrangements, work-outs, and structures to avoid balance sheet impairments. Kevin acts for a wide range of clients, including lenders, corporate borrowers, parastatal funders and the providers of finance. He has worked on groundbreaking South African transactions including the first synthetic securitisation, the first registration of security over trademarks, commercial paper and note programmes, asset (including debtors) securitisation, and the anti-trust aspects of realising security.


Kevin has been a director of Werksmans since 1999. Kevin has consistently been recognised in international ratings as one of South Africa’s foremost finance well as in international ratings. Namely, as a recommended lawyer in Corporate/M&A by The Legal500 (2011 – 2018)
