Partner Kristian Hugmark is Head of Roschier’s EU & Competition practice in Sweden. He practices in all areas of competition law and state aid in Sweden and in the EU, across all industries.

He is also experienced in advising on regulatory matters, in particular related to the transport and telecom industries.

Before joining Roschier in 2015, Kristian was based in Brussels for 13 years, working both for the European Commission and in private practice.

At Roschier, the competition team has a proven track record in advising on complex transactions, aiding clients in receiving clearance from both the Swedish Competition Agency and the European Commission. The practice’s work includes handling merger notifications involving Phase II reviews and remedy negotiations, and the team is increasingly instructed by private equity funds to handle merger control issues for acquisitions, disposals, and bolt-on deals in the Swedish market. Kristian Hugmark leads the team, and in addition to his competition expertise also handles complaints related to state aid regulations.

Roschier is highly active in the public procurement space, acting exclusively for suppliers. The team provides advice to clients from a range of sectors, with a particular focus on life sciences and energy clients. In addition to assisting clients in preparing bids for contracts, the practice handles disputes in this space related to award decisions and the cancellation of contracts. Erik Ficks leads the team, with Kristian Hugmark supporting on matters involving competition law. Ficks acts alongside the firm’s corporate practice to handle transactions with procurement-related aspects.
