Position

Sture Rygaard’s primary practice area is patent law. He is a very experienced litigator and represents a number of pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device clients as well as clients in the construction industry, tech/software and agricultural sector.

Sture became President of the European Patent Lawyer’s Association (EPLAW) in 2022. He has been a member of the EPLAW board since 2017.

Sture is a regular speaker at conferences and seminars, for instance:

  • The first EPLAW Webinar on the Unified Patent Court (UPC) – February 2022;
  • C5’s Pharma & Biotech Patent Litigation in Europe Conference in Amsterdam (update on SPC practice and UPC aspects) – May 2022;
  • Co-organizer of a conference on the UPC together with the Danish Employer’s Confederation – June 2022;
  • EPLAW Congress 2022 in Brussels (on lis pendens in the UPC) – December 2022

He is co-author of a comprehensive book on the Unified Patent Court (UPC) and a number of other IP publications.

Sture also represents clients in other IP matters, including IP contracts, transactions, strategy and trademark litigation.

Sture was Chairman of the AIPPI Standing Committee on Trade Secrets from 2017 to 2022.
