The Green Summit Denmark 2023 will for the second time bring together leading practitioners and in-house counsel from across the country and region to discuss the legal sector’s engagement with sustainability, ESG and climate action.

Two panel discussions with high-profile speakers will address the evolving role of lawyers in accelerating a green transition, including the most imminent issues that must be tackled. Attendees will hear about best practices as well as obstacles and challenges in achieving corporate sustainability.

The event promises plenty of time for debate and discussion on one of the most important concerns of this century, as well as networking drinks to end the day.

3.10 – 3.35pm Introducing the new reporting requirements of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD)

The introduction will cover the requirements applicable to companies directly covered by the CSRD and the indirect impact which the CSRD is expected to have on small or medium sized enterprises (SME).

3.35 – 4.20pm Panel Session One – Managing disclosures and liability under the CSRD

The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) requires certain large companies and listed companies to disclose information on sustainability matters. This panel discussion will address and discuss how companies effectively manage the disclosure requirements, how companies determine which disclosures are applicable and relevant to the company, how companies approach collection of data from a legal perspective and, further, how companies avoid liability in relation to its disclosures.

5.00 – 5.45pm Panel Session Two – Value chain due diligence – how to comply with the obligations of the CSDDD and manage risks and liabilities

The proposal for a Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) inter alia requires large companies to carry out value chain due diligence and thereby identifying, preventing, mitigating, and bringing to an end actual or potential negative impacts on the environment and human rights from a company’s own operations, its subsidiaries and their value chains. This panel discussion will address how companies can approach the value chain due diligence, the responsibilities and liability of management and board of directors, and how to mitigate the risk of liability.

Andreas Rasche, dr.rer.pol., professor of business in society and associate dean, Copenhagen Business School

Andreas Rasche is a Professor of Business in Society at the CBS Centre for Sustainability and Associate Dean for the CBS Full-Time MBA Program. He has previously been the Co-Director of the CBS World-Class Research Environment “Governing Responsible Business” (GRB). Andreas has collaborated with the United Nations on a number of projects, and served on the United Nations Global Compact LEAD Steering Committee. In addition, Andreas is also the author of several publications many of which have been published in top-tier international aca-demic and practitioner journals.

Jonathan Leonardsen, sustainability manager, Balder Danmark

Jonathan Leonardsen is the Sustainability Manager at Balder Danmark – a property management company which builds, develops and manages properties and a subsidiary of the Swedish listed company Fastighets AB Balder. Jonathan has worked with ESG and sustainability for a number of years and has worked extensively on implementation, measurement, and reporting of ESG or sustainability matters. In addition, Jonathan is part of a group of leading players in the real estate industry who have joined forces to establish a free, open-source ESG reporting template for the entire real estate industry value chain. The project is called “Real ESG – The Real Estate Reporting Framework” and aims to ensure that reporting in the real estate industry becomes transparent, concrete, and comparable.

Kristoffer Lykke-Olesen, head of ESG/sustainability reporting, ISS A/S

Kristoffer Lykke-Olesen is Head of ESG/Sustainability Reporting ISS A/S, a leading global facility management company. In this role, he is responsible for ensuring that the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices of the ISS group are accurately and transparently reported and documented within the ISS group and that the ISS group is prepared for the upcoming reporting under the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS).
In addition to his role in ESG reporting, Kristoffer also holds the position of Group Vice President and Head of Group Treasury & Risk and through both of his roles he is use to managing different risks of the ISS group.

Linda Nielsen, dr.Jur., professor of global governance and financial regulation, University of Copenhagen, faculty of law, and chair of NCP Denmark

Linda Nielsen is a Professor of Global Governance (ESG, CSR and Biolaw) and Financial Regulation (Banking Law, Invest-ment Law and Pension Law) at the University of Copenhagen. Linda is also the chair of the Danish National Contact Point to the OECD which handles complaints in relation to companies’ and public authorities’ observance of the OECD Guidelines. In this role, Linda has extensive experience in assessing whether the international guidelines on human rights, labour rights, environmental standards and anti-corruption have been observed. In addition to her various roles in academia and business, Linda is also the author of several books and publications, including the book “Bæredygtighedsret”.

Line Berg Madsen, partner, Kromann Reumert

Line Berg Madsen is a partner and attorney at Kromann Reumert and has extensive experience advising clients on ESG mat-ters. Her expertise includes sustainability due diligence, responsible investment, sustainable finance, and the EU sustainability legislation (including CSRD and CSDDD).
Line advises clients on compliance and ESG issues, focusing on ESG as a value-adding factor. Line has particular experience in ESG management and reporting, from the implementation of policies and processes in business operations to due diligence and risk assessments in connection with investments and transactions. Line is also member of the advisory board of Børsen Bæredygtig, member of the presidium of WWF Denmark, and member of the Board of Directors of Aleta A/S.

Martin Bang-Löwgren, head of sustainability, Polaris Management

Martin Bang-Löwgren is the Head of Sustainability at Polaris – a Nordic private equity firm. Martin joined Polaris in 2009 and was part of the investment team until 2020 when he assumed the role as Head of Sustainability. In his role as Head of Sustainability, Martin is responsible for Polaris strategy towards sustainability and for integrating the strategy throughout the investments process, from screening, due diligence up to portfolio management and exit. Martin also advices the investment teams in Polaris and the boards and management teams in the portfolio companies on sustainability matter and is also responsible for regulatory compliance and sustainability related reporting.

Sarah Hempel, head of sustainability, Axcel Management

Sarah Hempel is the Head of Sustainability at Axcel Management, a leading Nordic private equity firm. In this role she is re-sponsible for addressing ESG in Axcel’s operations and portfolio companies as well as communicating and engaging with stakeholders on sustainability topics. Sarah has extensive experience working with ESG and has previously served as the Head of Global Sustainability Strategy and Governance at Novozymes, and Manager, Corporate Affairs at LEGO Group.

Sune Skadegaard Thorsen, CEO & partner, GLOBAL CSR

Sune Skadegaard Thorsen is CEO/founder of GLOBAL CSR and recognised as a leading sustainability consultant advising corporations and investors on how to implement the UNGPs and OECD Guidelines. Also, Sune has extensive experience working with policy and strategic advice, implementation, training, issues management, project management, communication, and reporting. As an attorney, Sune pioneered the field of Business and Human Rights since 1996. In addition, Sune is the author of multiple publications on Business and Human Rights and has participated in numerous ESG/CSR initiatives internationally.
