Fredrik is a partner since 2010 and the leader of Setterwalls’ IP/Tech team.

Fredrik is a technology lawyer and assists Swedish and international companies with technology and IP intensive projects including partnerships, transactions, licensing, sourcing, e-commerce, social media and telecommunications. Fredrik regularly gives advice on complex matters in relation to the introduction of new technologies and digital services and has a particular interest and experience in projects relating to data, machine learning, AI, automation, electromobility, connectivity and Open Source Software.

Based on Fredrik’s experience in both privacy and intellectual property law, and his technology background, Fredrik has found a niche in assisting clients with the negotiation of complex transactions and contracts relating to information ownership and the exploitation of data. Fredrik has more than 15 years’ experience of working with regulatory issues relating to privacy and data protection.

In addition, Fredrik Roos has been ranked by Legal 500 (Intellectual Property and Media and IT and Telecoms), Who’s Who Legal and as Trademark Star by IP Stars.

Setterwalls’ data and privacy team handles the full spectrum of matters, with particular strength in GDPR compliance and cybersecurity issues, including data breaches. The team is strong in the healthcare, auto and financial services sectors, as well as in the IT and telecoms spaces, and boasts a client base ranging from start-ups to blue-chip multinationals. Fredrik Roos in Gothenburg has notable experience in privacy matters relating to new technologies, including machine learning, AI and VR, while Stockholm-based Niklas Follin advises on data use rights, data protection incident responses, and data protection rights claims. Sophia Spala, also in Stockholm, specialises in data protection matters pertaining to SaaS, social media, digital advertising, and digital health issues. The three partners jointly lead the practice.
