MAQS Law Firm recently advised on a $50m ship finance facility between Nordea Bank Norge and Walleniusrederierna. In other work, Per-Olov Håkanson handles complex shipping and insurance cases, Lars Boman advises on ship financing and handles shipbuilding and maritime disputes, Matthias Schmitt represents Swedish and German insurance companies, and Annica Börjesson advises clients such as the Swedish Club. Mannheimer Swartling’s Gothernburg-based maritime and transport department is ‘efficient, with a straightforward, no-nonsense approach’. It recently advised Stena RoRo on delivery of two RoPax super ferries, and Johan Ljungberg advised DFDS and C.PORTS on the acquisition of Älvsborg Ro/ro and taking over operations of the ro/ro terminal in the Port of Gothenburg. Former managing partner Stefan Brocker and Fredrik Andersson jointly lead the group.

At Setterwalls, Jörgen Almelöv’s ‘skilled, experienced, rational’ team in Stockholm ‘understands the economic and practical impact of its work’. It advised Danske Bank and Ålandsbanken on the refinancing of SRAB Shipping, and represents shipowners such as Österströms Rederi. It acted on wet shipping matters for Atlantic Container Line Sweden and TSA Tanker Shipping. Johan Sidklev handles shipping disputes.

Advokatfirman Vinge’s Gothenburg-based team advises on the purchase, sale, financing, and registration of vessels, and has notable strength in arbitration. Clients include P&I clubs, insurers, banks, shipowners, oil companies and offshore businesses.
