At DLA Piper, practice head Peter Ihrfelt, senior associate Johan Forsling and special counsel Mats Eriksson, who recently rejoined the firm from Fortum, assisted OX2 Group with acquiring several project portfolios from local utilities and developers in Finland and Norway. Kalmar Energi, VÀxjö Energi and Swedbank are other clients.

Foyen Advokatfirma’s Pia Pehrson assisted SkellefteĂ„ Kraft with its successful permit application for the Rebnisjaure hydropower plant. The firm’s broader workload includes energy-related transactions, regulatory compliance issues and project development. Jacob Hamilton is also recommended.

Led by Jörgen Möller and Per-Anders Bengtsson, Advokatfirman Lindahl KB covers every aspect of the lifecycle of energy projects. Bengtsson and Sara Boklund are advising Ljusdal Energi on the procurement of a turnkey bioenergy combined heat and power plant located in Ljusdal. Möller recently led the team, including Philip Stragne and Erik Sundgren, which advised Greystone Infrastructure Fund on its €30m investment in Rabbalshede Kraft. Mikael WĂ€rnsby and Peter Högström are also noted.

Mannheimer Swartling’s Johan Ljungberg assisted Prime Capital AG, as the adviser to a German pension fund, with the pension fund’s acquisition of the RĂ€nsliden wind park in Mellerud. The firm also assists clients with permitting applications for onshore and offshore wind farms, and dispute resolution. Jakob Ragnwaldh, Fredrik Andersson and Alexander Foerster are representing Vattenfall in an ICSID arbitration against the Federal Republic of Germany. Therese Strömshed and Emma OlnĂ€s Fors lead the practice.

Advokatfirman Vinge’s client base includes institutional investors, landowners, and Swedish energy utilities and developers. Johan Göthberg and others assisted electricity distributor Ellevio with the acquisition of NynĂ€shamns ElnĂ€t. Christoffer Thalin was the lead adviser to ScanVind on the divestment of greenfield wind farm RĂ€nsliden to Prime Capital. Göthberg and Thalin co-head the practice with recently promoted partner Robert Deli.

Advokatfirman Delphi’s practice is centred on its work in the oil and gas, renewable energy and power industries. Anders Jemail and Elisabeth Eklund assisted Nibe Industrier with obtaining SCA merger clearance (following a phase II investigation) of its acquisition of the main parts of Enertech Group. In addition to undertaking transactional work, the team advises on permit applications, the financing and construction of energy projects, commercial contracts, environmental issues and dispute resolution. Per Berglöf leads the group.

Hammarskiöld & Co AB handles energy-related matters for clients such as Statoil, Alstom and Neste. Its practice covers M&A and energy sector investments, regulatory advice, IPOs, energy trading and dispute resolution. Practice head Jakob Falkman and Erik Fahlgren are the lead advisers to Alpiq on the construction of the Tormoseröd wind power project. Lars Ulrichs is also recommended.

Ramberg Advokater assists public bodies and private commercial entities with domestic and international energy projects, transactions, regulatory issues and disputes. The firm’s work covers sectors including wind, hydro, electricity, and oil and gas. Maria Hagberg’s team includes Torbjörn Claeson and Johan Palmgren. Amanda Starfelt joined from ABB.

Roschier’s multidisciplinary practice is led by Björn Winström, who is part of the team advising APG Asset Management as the sponsor on the construction of the 288MW ÅaskĂ€len onshore wind farm. Johan Sidklev, Carl Persson and others are representing First National Petroleum as the claimant in arbitration proceedings against Rosneft over exploration rights in a Siberian oil field. Rikard Wikström-Hermansen is another name to note.

Setterwalls’ team includes Jonas Frii, who is head of energy M&A and financing, and senior associates Elin Hjort and Mattias Wiklund, who acted for Aquila Capital in the €232m acquisition of the Lehtirova and Högkölen wind farm projects from OX2 Group. Anders Linnerborg (head of energy regulatory) and others assisted BorĂ„s Energi och Miljö with obtaining a permit to build and operate energy and waste services facilities in BorĂ„s. The firm is also the exclusive adviser to Swedish wind power developer Arise on project development, transactions and financing matters. Tove Andersson joined from Wistrand.

Wistrand handles energy issues for Volvo, Göteborg Energi NĂ€t and Svensk Vindenergi. Rudolf Laurin and Mattias Boqvist are advising Norwegian energy company Skangas on the development of an LNG terminal at Preem’s refinery in Lysekil. Senior associate Emilie Steen is another notable practitioner. Tove Andersson joined Setterwalls.

Bird & Bird’s Ulf Mellqvist and Mattias Thorolfson represented 3G Infrastructure Services as the claimant at the Swedish Supreme Court in a landmark case against Vattenfall over the repayment of excessive fees for an electrical connection. Practice head Kristina Forsbacka is representing the Swedish Energy Agency at the European Court of Justice in a request for a preliminary ruling over the compatibility of the Renewables Directive with corresponding Swedish legislation on the sustainability criteria for biofuels and bioliquids. Jörgen Ekström is experienced in acting for service providers to the oil and gas industry.

Magnusson AdvokatbyrÄ’s practice head Jonas Bergquist is knowledgeable about investments into the renewable energy sector and emission trading projects. Energy litigation is another cornerstone of the firm’s work. The Swedish Energy Agency is a key client.

Advokatfirman Oebergs AB’s Björn Öberg is advising Vasa Vind on the construction of the ÅaskĂ€len onshore wind farm. Elsewhere, the firm advises clients on the development of hydropower projects in Sweden and further afield. Oil and gas and solar power are other areas of strength.
