Kaj Hobér and Jakob Ragnwaldh represented Vattenfall in an energy charter treaty dispute, while Per Molander and Bo Hansson advised on nuclear waste disposal permits.

Advokatfirman Vinge’s Maria Paijkull is representing a client in an onshore wind farm permit case before the Environmental Court of Appeal, while Christoffer Thalin is advising Lunds Energikoncemen on energy collaboration. Johan Cederblad is advising Fastighets AB Norrporten on a water permit procedure and has been acting for another client on wind farm development matters. The 20-lawyer team’s expertise includes renewables project financing and project development.

Advokatfirman Delphi’s practice grew again in 2012, with Magnus Björkander arriving from Magnusson Advokatbyrå. Per Berglöf’s team is experienced in the oil, gas and electrical power sectors. Clients include Swedish Biogas and some major Russian and German energy firms. Elisabeth Eklund handles regulatory advice.

Foyen Advokatfirma KB’s Mikael Westin is helping various regional power companies with licences, and Pia Pehrson represented the Swedish National Grid on a SEK5bn pan-Baltic scheme. The 11-lawyer team assists clients from all parts of the energy sector.

Peter Högström’s team at Advokatfirman Lindahl KB has experience in energy projects and transactional support, and displays ‘a very good selection of special skills’, with clients particularly highlighting its grasp of the renewables market. The ‘well-prepared’ Mikael Wärnsby ‘performs under pressure’, and ‘sharp’ associate Madeleine Edqvist is ‘a rising star’.

Recent work for Setterwalls includes assisting clients in relation to high-value biogas permit trials; advising Arise Windpower on wind farm projects; and representing Sydvatten in €60m litigation over hydropower. Anders Linnerborg’s team includes the ‘really smart’ Jonas Frii.

At von lode advokat ab, team head Torbjörn Claeson advised a Swedish pipeline owner on biogas injections into natural gas pipelines. Maria Hagberg assisted the Swedish Energy Agency on its review of electricity rationing.

Rudolf Laurin heads Wistrand’s ‘excellent’ practice, which advises on grid issues, energy rights and agreements. Göteborg Energi and the Swedish Energy Markets Inspectorate are clients. Mattias Boqvist advised on an LNG terminal agreement.

Advokatfirman Åberg & Co AB acts mainly for the Swedish arms of international clients on wind and biogas projects, and transactions. The six-partner team, which includes Nils Ryrberg and Ulf Skorup, also advises on permits and emissions trading.

Led by Christian Luthman, Bird & Bird’s focus is transactional support and tax advice. Hans Svensson advised new client Midroc New Technology on financing and investments relating to cleantech start-ups. Kristina Forsbacka joined from Wistrand.

Gärde Wesslau Advokatbyrå handles insurance-related matters. Sten Gisselberg advises contractors on power and infrastructure projects.

Gernandt & Danielsson Advokatbyrå provides transactional support for clients in the energy and power sector.

Advokatfirman Glimstedt continues to advise on wind energy acquisitions for state-owned companies. Per Nilsson handled a legal inquiry into nuclear plants for the Swedish government.

Jakob Falkman and Lars Ulrichs advise on wind farms, energy contracts and nuclear power projects at Hammarskiöld & Co AB.

Hellström Law handled several petroleum-related litigation cases, and is representing a Swedish investor in an arbitration under the Energy Charter Treaty before the ICC.

Wind farm expert Katrin Troedsson heads MAQS Law Firm’s Göthenburg-based team. Recent work includes advising an energy company on natural gas supply co-operation.
